Headless WordPress can be powerful, but it is not automatically better. It adds a frontend application, deployment workflow, preview complexity, and more moving parts.

Traditional WordPress is usually better when

  • The business needs fast editing and simple maintenance.
  • The budget is limited.
  • The site is mostly marketing, service pages, content and forms.
  • A clean theme and companion plugin can solve the problem.

Headless makes sense when

  • You need a custom app-like frontend.
  • You need Next.js rendering strategies like SSG, SSR or ISR.
  • You have a team that can maintain two systems.
  • You can preserve SEO, previews, redirects and content workflow.

My recommendation is simple: choose the architecture that reduces long-term risk, not the one that sounds most modern.
