A serious business website needs more than someone who can move sections around. It needs someone who understands risk, workflow, performance, security and the business reason behind the change.

What to ask before hiring

  • Can they explain the scope in writing?
  • Do they back up before making live changes?
  • Do they test forms, mobile, speed and core user paths?
  • Can they explain the trade-off between a plugin and custom code?
  • Do they document what changed?
  • Can they say “no” to risky shortcuts?

Good developers make invisible work visible. That is why my process starts with requirement, scope, payment, delivery and QA — not random call-based changes.
